Slideshow advice

1. How long do you want your slideshow to be? A typical length of 10 - 12 minutes has up to 100 photos. 2. Do you want to tell a life story or just a certain time period in your loved ones life or just a small part of it or a specific event or time period? 3. Choose your pictures. I know this can be difficult...there are so many pictures that you love. Including loved ones or friends in the photos (especially if they will be at the event) is a sure hit and will keep everyone glued to the show!! For one graduation slideshow we chose "these are the Days (10,000 maniacs) and dedicated that section to friends and family who had contributed to the subjectsl life in a special or meaningful way 4. Songs are a very personal choice, however, it is probably the most important element of your slideshow. Consider your song choices carefully....will they convey the story and emotions you want your slideshow to tell? Will the lyrics compliment your pictures? The answers will determine the success of your show. For instance, in choosing for a graduation slideshow covering from birth to Graduation, it is essential to choose approriate songs for each stage of life and then finish with an inspirational song about the future. This variety ensures and interesting, emotional story verses choosing all your songs with the same message---Remember, you want to carry the audience along your loved ones life journey. If you need suggestions click here and scroll through the lists. There are many songs that can be used in more than one catagory. Keep in mind these are just a few suggestions. The choices are infinite! My best slideshows are from songs that the client has chosen for their deep personal meaning. 5. Short video clips can also be inserted into your slidesow (if they are in the right format) such as from your digital camera taken with the video function or your camcorder. 6. Consider which pictures you want captions for. Try not to have an excess amount or your audience will be trying to read every caption instead of viewing the pictures. They should be used sparingly to explain a picture etc. or to highlight something special. Do you want to include some frames with a message? Perhaps something special at the beginning or end of your show? I have done this for graduation and anniversary shows and it is a very nice special touch. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or ideas you have!
